Mrs. Wire Purchases Quarterhorse at “Shade"
The second highest priced horse soid at the annual Virginia State Quarterhorse Association sale at Front Royal Livestock Ma rk et Saturday was a filly purchased by Mrs. Minnie Lee Wire of “The Shade” near Washington. Mrs Wire paid $1,325 for the filly. The top price of $2,200 was paid by Anthony E. Dahnk of Arlington County for a filly which he plans to enter in quarter-horse futurities throughout the East Coast. The filly “Janie K. Leo* was raised and consigned by Dr. Don J. Wade, of North Wales Quarterhorse Farm at Warrenton.
The sale attracted a huge crowd of buyers and spectators from several states where a total of 43 head of quarter-horses were sold at an average price of $573.58.
