ings, Post Office, shopping center, public library. Upon leaving the city, we passed huge sugar cane plantations enroute to Chimbarzo, one of the highest points on the island. From there the drive continued to Hackletona Cliff and Saint John’s Church where we stopped. This was a superb panorama of the coast and from this^ point the Atlantic stretches 4,000 miles distant to the coast of Africa. Our driver, who spoke better English than I did, took us a different route on the return trip ta Easterly House for lunch where we ate in leisure on the veranda over looking a courtyard and the coast in the background. On the menu was flying fish, delicious. We had seen these fish from the boat and they looked like silver birds on the water. After lunch we went shopping in Bridgetown where the finest Wedgewood china was available at modest prices, less than in New York or Washington. Also available were cashmere sweaters, shawls, and materials of every kind. Vegetation is lush--bananas,

green peas growing on bushes; huge stands of mahogany trees from which exquisite furniture is manufactured. Poinsettias and bougainvillas blooming in profusion everywhere in Barbados.
If it were possible I should like to go back to Barbados for a longer visit for my short stay there was so pleasant and enchanting. It was smooth sailing on the return to New York where we docked on Monday the 15th about 8 a. m. Card Of Thanks
