The following health require ments of herds putting heifers in organized sales was adopted at the annual meeting held recently at Natural Bridge. Plan I: Annual Herd Testing: All female calves must originate directly from a herd that is not under quarantine and the herd has had a clean test for tuberculosis and Bang’s within the past twelve months. Plan II: Market Cattle Testing: All female calves must originate directly from a herd that is not under quarantine and the herd has had at least 10% of the breeding animals tested and inspected at a recognized slaughtering establishment and found negative within the past three years. Plan III: Combination I and II: Those sales which cannot operate entirely under either Plan I or Plan II may use a combination of these plans. Therefore, those herds which' do not qualify under Plan II must qualify under Plan I. Brucellosis Vaccination: Vaccination of female calves will be optional with each sale. However, all calves in one sale must be of the same status—either all vaccinated or all not vaccinated. Three times each year—December, April and August— the State Veterinarian’s office will furnish each county agent a list of all herds in the county that have participated in the Market Cattle Testing Program and the number of animals that have been tested from each herd. From this information it can be determined whether or not the herd, is ,el lglble.
