Of all points that must be considered in choosing the forage crop .whether it will be used for silage or for hay, is the suitability of the soil for production of the crop.
Soil suitability con be learned by: trial and success, trial and failure and from the Rappahannock Soil Survey report.
Some examples are as follows:
Meadowville loam soil is an excellent corn soil and is also well suited for production of Sudan grass or Sudan-Sorghum crosses, etc. It is not suited to production of Alfalfa and lodging of small grain is to be expected.

The object of the above styled suit! it to recover money due the plaintiff from the defendant for labor and materials furnished the defendant by the plaintiff in the drilling of a water well by the plaintiff for the defendant on land owned by the defendant in the Village of Amissville, Rappahannock County, Virginia, during April of 1962, and to subject the said land to the aforesaid debt: And it appearing by Affidavit filed according to law, that Rev. James W. Powers, the above named defendant, is not a resident of this state, but is a resident of the state of Maryland, residing at Route 1. Hagerstown, Maryland, it is therefore ordered that the said Rev. James W. Powers da appear within ten days after due publication of this order, in the Clerk’s Office of our said Circuit Court, and to do what is necessary to protect his interest; And it is further ordered that this order be published once a week for four successive weeks in the Rappahannock News, a newspaper printed in the County of Rappahannock, Virginia, and the newspaper prescribed by our said Circuit Court
