Republican Candidate
Republicans of the 23rd Senatorial District nominated I. R. Dovel of Luray as a candidate for the State Senate at a meeting held Friday in Luray. Mr. Dovel will oppose Sen. George S. Aldhizer II for the seat representing the city of Harrisonburg and the counties of Page, Warren, Rappahannock and Rockingham. Vincent F. Callahan, Republican nominee for lieutenant governor, addressed the district gathering at Luray, and described the GOP 1965 platform as "the most positive and dynamic" ever presented by a party in Virginia. Mr. Dovel is a lawyer, businessman and former GOP state chairman. ,,
