34th Anniversary of
Park Construction
Superintendent R. Taylor Hoskins of Shenandoah Na tional Park announced today that the 34th anniversary of the start of construction of the Skyline Drive will be observed . on July 17 and 18.
Special emphasis will be given this event at the evening campfire programs at both the Big Meadows Amphitheater and Loft Mountain Assembly Area on July 17, and at the Lewis Mountain and Skyland Campfire Circles on July 18. The outdoor evening programs begin promptly at 9 p.m. EDT.
Thirteen evening programs and twenty-six conducted hikes are held weekly, f r o m mid-June through Labor Day as a part of the Park’s interpretive program. All acti vities are disigned to increase Park visitors’^ understanding and enjoyment of the natural phenomena and history related to the Park area.
