Flint Hill Post office, which has been recently moved into a new location in the town and has been renovated and decorated, will be officially dedicated at a ceremony Saturday, July 24 beginning at 2 p.m. The dedication will be followed by open house at which time refreshments will be served, according to Mrs. Bar bara Gentry, Flint Hill postmaster.
Guest speakers will be the Honorable John O. Marsh, Jr., Congressman for the Seventh District of Virginia; and Andrew E. Newton, Washington Regional Director of the Post Office Department Frank J, Brizzi, assistant to Mr. Newton, will also be present. Mr. Newton, who will be the principal speaker, is a career employee of the postal service, having started as a special delivery messenger at Buffalo, N. Y. in 1929. He has worked through the ranks, becoming a postal inspector in 1942. During World War II, he served in the U. S. Navy and was stationed at the Naval PtJst Office in Sampson, N. Y, He became a Lt. Comdr. in charge of handling mail for Navy personnel in the European and African theatres. Later he was assigned to the staff of Commander Services Forces in the Pacific. Planning transportation and rotation of all personnel serving in the mail units were part of his work. He was awarded the Secretary of Navy citation by Mr. Forrestal for his work in the Fleet Post utnce in New York, and won the Bronze Star for work in the Pacific.
