Important as this is, the careful planning of the exterior wiring and service equipment is of even greater importance. In 1930, a three wire, 60ampere service was consider ed adquate for most farms, even in dairy regions. Today, the development of new equip ment has reached the point where many farmers are finding a 200-ampere service inadequate.
All too frequently the farmer and urban home owner are finding it necessary to make extensive and costly changes in their wiring systems when they desire to add to the electrical equipment. This i6 especially true for heavy-duty units and those appliances which operate at 230 volts.
