The Flipt Hill Fire Department's Annual Carnival starts next week on August 4 and runs through August 7. A giant display of fireworks, for all to see and enjoy, will open the event on Wednesday night, August 4, A Grand Parade is scheduled for Thursday night, August 5, beginning at 7 p.m. D.S.T, The Parade of over 150 units will feature as Grand Marshal the newly crowned “Miss District of Columbia’, Miss Diana Batts, a runner-up in the Miss U.S.A. Pageant. It will be led by the United States Army Band of Fort Belvoir and accompanied by the color guard and honor guard of Vint Hill. -Another feature attraction of the Parade will be the well known 79 piece Tam O'Shanter All-Girl Kiltie Corps from Somerset, Pennsylvania with their color guard, majorettes and musical section of bagpipes, glockenspiels and drums. There will also be many top marching bands, beautiful floats, beauty queensj, majorette groups, clowns, comic entries, and fire fighting and rescue equipment. Friday night, a 500 pound purebred registered black angus heifer and a complete set of china will be awarded. The Carnival will come to a close on Saturday night with
