Corn Corn prices are expected to continue at about present levels until the new crop comes to market. North Carolina corn should begin appearing on Virginia markets in the next two or three weeks. The first corn production forecast for the U. S. on July 1 estimated 3.9 billion bushels about 10 per cent above last year and 2 per cent above the five year average. Adding this to the projected carryover of corn next October 1 -- down about 26 per cent from last year--puts the total supply at a little over 5 billion bushels, just a shade under last year’s supply.
Prospects in Virginia are unusually good this year with the July 1 forecast of grain production of over 35 million bushels up 25 per cent, from last year--a result of record high yields and larger acreage
