June Summary
The first six months of 1965 were good months for business in Virginia. For the cumulative period, January thru Jun^i all city indices showed gains over the same period in 1964. June, in general, can be classified as a good month but a decline in new car registrations and a weakness in retail sales must be noted. New car registrations for June 1965 were down 3.6% in comparison to June 1964. This represents a notable drop when compared to M ay’s figures which were approximately 33% ahead of May, 1964. Retail sales for June were up 3.6% for the state. However six of the sixteen cities registered declines in the June 1965-June 1964 comparison.”
Mrs. Browning Hostess To Bridge Club
Mrs. John S. Browning entertained the Flint Hill Bridge Club and additional guests Monday evening at her home. Her guests were Mrs. M. R. Bradford, Jr., Mrs. Lock Burford, Mrs. Thomas Eastham, Mrs. James Massie, Mrs. Earl Edmonds, Mrs. G. W. Smith, Jr., Mrs. Emory Russell, Mrs. Harry Lee Smith, Mrs. W. A. Moore, Jr., Mrs. Paul Miller and Mrs. B. J. Wood. Prizes were won by Mrs. G. W. Smith, Jr., Mrs. Russell and Mrs. Massie.
