The Light Horse and Pony Club is busy planning a dance to be held at the Flint Hill Fire Hall from 8-11 p.m. on Thursday, December 30. Last year this group had a wholesome and enjoyable dance. Let’s keep it that way. I’m counting on you parents being present.
TAXES.. What an unpleasant topic to mention right at Christmas; however as sure as the New Year will arrive, so must our thoughts and energy soon be directed toward filing tax reports. W. J. Nuckolls, Tax Expert of the Agricultural Economics Department of Va. Tech, will be at the Court House at 7:30 p.m., January 6 to explain processes of filing tax returns to farmers, and any others, wishing to learn how this job can be made properly and perhaps easier.
With the water shortage being experienced throughout the county, the apparent growth in interest in recreational enterprises, flood and water storage structures being constructed in adjoining counties possibly we of Rappahannock should activate our thinking and efforts on local possibilities.
There is a growing awareness of the need, but what about the feasibility of such structures? Financial aid is available but can we afford, or not afford, our part? Do we have suitable sites for water storage structures? Will flood control, prevention of soil erosion on our farms, reduction in damage to our bridges in our highway system justify the cost? The Soil Conservation Service has personnel experienced in making complete studies of the feasibility of such an undertaking so why not ask for it? If you, your organization, or the Town
