May 1st State

Tax Deadline

May 1 is the deadline for filing and paying state income tax and for filing personal property with the county Commissioner of Revenue, Mrs. Roberta Spalding. Since the deadline comes on Sunday this year, returns will be accepted through Monday, May 2. Mrs. Spalding's office located in the Courthouse at Washington will be open until noon Saturday and all day|Monday.

4-H Share-the-Fun

Contest Set For May 6

The 4-H Share-The-Fun Contest will be held Friday, May 6th in the auditorium of the Washington Elementary School starting promptly at 8:00 p.m. (D.S.T.) The purpose of the contest is to provide 4-H members an opportunity to display their talents in: singing, playing musical instruments, dancing, stunts, charades, etc. The public is invited and there will be no charge. In past years this program has attracted and provided entertainment for 175-200 Club members, parents and friend^ This year it is hoped that 250-300 will attend. Judges of the contest will be 4-H leaders of Culpeper County, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wessel. Awards will consist of scholarships to 4-H Camp (for members under 14 years of age) and to State Short Course (for members 14 years and older).
