April Showers as of Wednesday morning measured 3.33 inches of rainfall according to the official gauge at Washington, Va. Half of this amount, 1.77, has fallen in the past ten days. As compared with the 20-year average of 3.5 for April we are over for the month. However at the beginning of 1966 we were 9.7 inches short of precipitation. For the last three years our precipitation has averaged 26.32 inches per year. For the past20 years the average per year has been 36.14. Intermittent showers and sun| shine the past week, combined with temperature?, climbing into the 80’s Sunday have beckoned the apple blossoms, red trod-''and-dogwood into bloom. Home gardens flourish with tulips, hyacinths, creeping phlox and jonquils, and the lilacs unfold to emit their .heady fragrance. If conditions remain as they are, this weekend should be an ideal time to enjoy Rappahannock spring scenery at its finest.

At the dinner and business 'meeting of the Rappahannock i Republicans held April 21 at khe Fire Hall in Amissville :officers and delegates were chosen. Re-elected officers for the next year were Chairman: J. A. B. Dahlgren; Vicechairman, T. Morgan Johnston; Secretary-Treasurer, Mrs. R. L. Cheatham. I. L. Parrish was elected Finance Chairman. Chairman Dahlgren was elected delegate to both the District Convention in Charlottesville, June 10 and State Convention to be held in Roa| noke July 2, with I. L. Parj rish as alternate, j District committeemen are las follows: Stonewall, Mrs. |john Carney and C. B. Johnson; Wakefield, Aubrey North and Withold Kuncewicz; Hampton, L. V. Merrill and W. C.
