Mrs. Doris Daugherty Morgan, Extension Agent, Home Economics, is working closely with the Arts and Crafts Committee on all such work shops that are related to her services to the county and helpful literature on many related subjects is available through her office in Washington.
The Arts and Crafts Committee took inventory of its activities for the two years since its organization. They have sponsored workshops in rug making, basketry, knitting, quilting, painting, and ceramics. From the knitting classes of Mrs. MaryCleverley, thirty-seven women have earned certificates and about another twenty women have gotten a start in knitting. Many women made rugs and are still at It, Mrs. Woodrow Bennett has bought a kiln to make ceramics for sale as a result of the ceramics school which was attended by eight women. A few women were encouraged from a sketching day to enroll in Mrs. Luke’s art class and at present seven women and one man are members of a county art group headed by Mrs. Helen Kilby.
