The rejection of this proposal by the Commission leaves the, bear season as it was last year, beginning on November 21 and ending January 5. The proposal to advance and shorten the eastern turkey season was approved making it come in with the opening of deer season, November 21, and end two weeks later, December 3. The eastern counties of Buckingham, Culpeper, Essex, Fairfax, Loudoun and Mecklenburg were added to the open list. In the west, Page and Warren counties were opened to turkey hunting during the western season which begins November 7 and extends through December 17. New Kent County was closed to fall turkey hunting and the special gobblers-only restric tion in Cumberland. County was retained. A western deer season beginning November 21 and ending December 3 was approved with shooting limited to bucks only in Montgomery County and in Pittsylvania County west of the Southern Railroad. Wise County North of Alternate Route 58 was closed to all deer hunting due to restocking now in progress in that area.
