Sets Quarterly Meet

The next quarterly meeting of the Rappahannock Historical Society is scheduled for June 14 and place of meeting will be announced later. The program will consist of a talk and film on the streams anc valleys and how to obtain the greatest value from them. A field trip for the societ) is planned for Sunday, June IS and will be a visitation to historical sites throughout the county. All members and friends who wish to take the three-hour trip will meet ai the courthouse in Washingtor at 2 p.m. The committee on early postal service and communication in Rappahannock reports that the Smithsonian is holding an unusual and priceless exhibition of its reference co lections of philately and postal history not normally or public view. The exhibit wil be in the Museum of History 3nd Technology from May 2] to May 30. Mail carried bj balloons during the seige oi Paris (1870-71) air mail covers flown by German Zeppelins, rare foreign and Unitec States covers, numerous artifacts of the earliest posta! services and history outlines will be among the things whicl should make a trip to the museum of real value.
