Thousands who traveled to Shenandoah National Park during the past weekend were treated to a brilliant display of autumn color in the forests of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Superintendent R. Taylor Hoskins reported today. With visits of more than 78,600 for the two-day period, the total was the second highest for a comparable weekend since figures have been recorded by the Park, being exceeded only by the weekend of October 12-13, 1963, when visits totaled 80,000, Hoskins said. Of the 1966 total Sunday visits were 46,661, with the remainder, or 31,992, recorded on Saturday.
