The Park s Chief Ranger, William Burgen, reported that despite the heavy traffic along the 105-mile Skyline Drive and with most of the 75 overlooks crowded and campgrounds jammed, only one accident of any consequence was reported, that involving a vehicle which overturned at Milepost 100 late Sunday afternoon. There were no injuries.
Hoskins said that the fall foliage was at its height of beauty during the weekend, but even so there are .many good displays remaining, especially at the lower elevations.
r Hoskins said that all camping and picnic facilities in the Park will be available during the weekend of October 22-23 although both' the Park and the Park concessioner are making preparations for winter, closings. Consequently cabin rentals at Lewis Mountain and thfe camper store and laundry and shower facilities at the Loft Mountain Campground already have been closed.
