Garden Club To Meet
The Rappahannock Ga r d en Club will meet Wednesday, July 19 at 2 p.m. with Mrs, Elmo Flynt as hostess at her home in Washington. Chairman of the meeting will be Mrs. C. E. Johnson, Jr. and the program is Flower Show Critique. The exhibit will be red, white and blue arrangements.
Fewer Dove* This Year
Call count surveys completed in May and June show mourning dove numbers down about 2% overall in the Eastern Management Unit, according to the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The, Virginia count dropped 18%jbelow that of last year indicating fewer breeding birds. List year the Virginia count wa)s up 21% so this puts the state on a par with the 1965 breeding population.
Virginia Commission of Game and Inland Fisheries personnel participate in this breeding dove census each year and the results are used in determining fall hunting seasons and bag limits. The 196768 dove season framework options are about identical with those offered Flastern states last year.
