Five people were injured Monday in a head on collision ! on Route 211 a mile and a half east of Sperryville. Herbert Foster of Sperry-j ville, operating a 1952 Ply- | mouth, ran up behind two vehicles stopped to make a left turn. When he applied his brakes his car skidded into the left lane and crashed into an oncoming car. Itwasa 1966 Chevrolet operated by Cyril Montgomery Craig of Charles-: ton, W. Va., according to Trooper J. B. Willis. The car was owned by Smith Transfer Co. also of Charleston.
Foster sustained a fracturkneecap and multiple lacerations and abrasions. Cyril Cra ig received a fractured left arm, fractured jaw, lacerations of the face and multiple abrasions. Mrs. Blanche Esther Craig sustained a fractured spine, multiple abrasions of the face. Three children ages 5 to 12 were treated and released. All victims were taken to Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal by the Rappahannock and Flint Hill Rescue Squads.
Foster will be charged with reckless driving, said Mr. Willis. James Haywood Washington of Andrews AFB sustained minor injuries in a single-car j crash which occurred early Thursday morning on Route 211 at Old Mill Snack Bar just east of Washington. He was taken to Warren Memorial Hospital by Rappahannock Rescue Squad with lacerations of the head and face. According to Trooper J. B.l Willis Washington was oper-i ating a 67 Chevelle when he ran off the right of the highway, struck a fence then veered back across the road and hit a bank. He was charged with reckless driving, said the officer.
