The marriage of Miss Susan Christian Schaefer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick W. Schaefer of Sperryville to Edwin Francis Updike, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Updike of Washington, was solemnized Saturday, July 29, 1967. The wedding took place at four o’clock in the afternoon at Trinity Episcopal Church, Washington, Virginia. The Rev. Charles F. Glaenzer performed the double ring ceremony. The church decorations were altan. vase$, of white gladioli and-mums a lid lighted ca ndela «*. bra entwined with ivy. Mrs. Paul Nichols, organise presented the nuptial and wedding music. Mr. Schaefer gave his daughter in marriage. She wore a full length A-line gown of white silk linen. A scooped neckline fashioned the lifted bodiceand puffed linen appliques fell gently from the neckline and bordered the bottom of the dress. The detachable train fell gracefully from her shoulders. Her headpiece was a decorative floral arrangement highlighted with short illusion veiling. She carried a bouquet of 6hasta daisies and ivy. Mrs. Ronald Gordon Jacobs of Warrenton was matron of honor for her sister. Her long gown was a cage type of melon organza over a fitted under dress of linen.
