Panthers Nip Wildcats
The Rappahannock Panthers basketball team pulled out a tie game in the last five seconds Friday night to eke out a one point victory over the Warren County Wildcats. A foul shot by Bobby Settle cinched the victory for the Panthers on their home court. The Warren team pulled ahead in the first quarter and maintained the lead through the halfway mark. Half-time score was 43-33 favoring the Wildcats. By the end of the third the score was tied and the remaining quarter was a real thriller with the score seesawing. During the last five frantic seconds, Bobby Settle sunk a foul shot to make the final score 68 to 67 in favor of Rappahannock. Settle’s points in the game totaled 22. Second: in the scoring department was Roy Reeve with 19 and following was Charles Dodson ! with 18. Eddie Wayland a sophomore guard played an outstanding defensive game to aid im-1 measurably in the victory.
Rappahanjiock and Turner Ashby are tied so far in dis-l trict 10 play with4-0records.i Thursday (tonight) the Panthers will play the Luray Bulldogs at Luray. In the Strasburg game reported last week, Bobby Settle scored 25 points instead of 21 as was previously reported.
