Program Funds Cut
Colonel C. W. Woodson, Jr., Superintendent of State police and Chairman of the Governor’s Highway Safety Committee, who has been appointed by Governor Godwin to administer the Federal Highway Safety Act of 19t>o in Virginia, today stated that curtailment of federal spending has drastically hampered the program. The act originally called for the appropriation of $100 million to provide matching funds for aiding states and political subdivisions during fiscal year 1967-68, providing that the various states have traffic safety programs in substantial conformance with federal recommendations bv December, 19 b 8.
