William A. Utz

William Allen Utz, 90, of Front Royal died Wednesday, December 13, 1967, at a Warrenton nursing home following a long illness. A native of Rappahannock County, he was the son of the late Bill and Lucy Utz. He was a retired carpenter.

He is survived by one son, Charles Utz of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; two daughters, Mrs. Blanche Boyce of Baltimore and Mrs. Louise D’Alfonso of Athens, Ohio, and several grandchildren. A funeral service was held Friday at 2 p.m. at Geest Funeral Chapel with burial in Hillcrest Memory Gardens. The Rev. Clem A. Walters officiated.

If educational levels are a criteria by which our earning power is measured or an important item considered by industry, no wonder we are low in per capita income and are lacking in skills. Our men are nearly three years below the state average in years schooling completed. The same for our women, but our fairer sex get a little better than a years more' schooling than do their opposites.
