Naval Academy In 1939' and holds a Master's Degreei in Aeronautical Engineering; from Rensselaer Polytechnic; Institute. His special interest: has been the thermodynamics of jet and rocket power plants. Captain Keim’s first duty assignment following graduation from the Academy was to USS Enterprise, which was the first carrier to get into action following the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941. Flying the flag of Admiral William F. Halsey, the Enterprise participated in the Gilbert and Marshall Islands raids, attacks on Wake and Marcus Islands, and in the launching of General James A. Doolittle’s planes for the famous Tokyo Raid. Later the Captain completed both Lighter-than-air and neavier-than-air training and squadron duty. From that point on, his service was primarily devoted to aviation assignments, including research, development, design, field con tract administration and the repair and overhaul of most types of Navy aircraft. While assigned to the Enterprise in 1941, Captain Keim married the former Miss Phyllis Margaret Campbell of Honolulu, T. H. An outdoor enthusiast, the captain has long been interested in wildlife conservation and plant ecology. For the past eight years he has been particularly concerned with the techniques of Timber and Christmas Tree Farm management. He intends to devote his post-retirement activity
