A ccording to information from representative;; of the Federal Highway safety Bureau, Colonel Wuodsen stated that the original $100 million proposed appropriation has been cut to $2C9 million with an absolute veiling of $2,500 on any project. The $23.9 million appropriated is subject to yet another 10 percent cut.
“Thus,” Colonel Wood.-im said, “federal funds just a re.n’t forthcoming as expected and; few, if any, new projects cah be carried out for $2,500."
It is not known how long this curtailment might remain in effect. Various congressmen have indicated that if there is to be no tax increase, federal spending ma-t be cut significantly.
