josepn Mayhugh ot Catlett has been apprehended and charged with the theft of awat nut log from the property of Edward J. Pawley and another from the Mt. Salem Church property. Warrants have been issued for William B. Wharton Jr. for the same two offenses and an additional one for destroying trees on the lands of Mrs. R. D. Ruddy. In this case, a tree was cut and damaged but not removed from the place, according to authorities. The offenses occurred on January 23rd and Mayhugh was taken into custody last week by Sheriff C. K, Estes. *■ Two more men were turned i over to Culpeper authorities last Thursday after investigation by the Sheriff’s department here revealed they had logs in their possession which had been stolen in Culpeper County. Deputy Sheriff John Walker Jenkins spotted the truck load of logs traveling on Route 729 near Ben Venue. When he failed to get what he considered satisfactory answers to his interrogation of two men in the truck, he summoned Sheriff Elstes. Further investigation revealed that the walnut logs, their value estimated at $150, had been rustled from the property of Robert Morrison at Eggborns ville. The men, Clyde and James Clark of Midland, were detained until the Sheriff from Culpeper arrived to take them into custody. It was later determined that a new chainsaw which the men were using was also stolen.
