Sliced tomatoes have been canned in their fresh state and remain firm for use in salads and sandwiches. Onion-flavored' instant , potatoes are being introduced. Dehydrated slices and cubes are also available in various casserole mixes. In stent sweet potatoes are new. Mucn like the boil-in-the-bag
vegetable, there is now a quick thawing fruit dessert sealed in plastic pouches which can be immersed in hot water. In the meat line, turkeys are being built with built-in timers; freeze-dried sandwich mixes will soon be available, we have already seen the main dishes of dehydrated meat and vegetables appear on the market. With breads and cereals, we see little change except for instant breakfast cereals and low calorie cereals that are sweetened with non-calorie sweetness. New mixes are appearing regularly either in new packages or as improved products. New products in the Dairy F’roducts line consist of “non dairy' liquid creamers which "can also be used over cereal as well as in coffee. Frozen “non-dairy' whipped toppings will soon be on the market. Low-fat canned milk, and fortified fluid skim milk, which can contain no more than 2% fat are two other products available.
These are only a few of the new products you’ll be seeing in the 6tores soon. With the demands for food Supply that we have today, it seems like the sky is the limit for the varieties of products that can be produced and marketed.
