Gardiner Steer Champion At Va. Breeders Show
Josef M. Gardiner, a Flint Hill, Virginia, Angus cattleman bred the champion steer at the recent Virginia Angus Breeders Show in Culpeper. The steer was shown hy Charles Peery, New Market Virginia. Mr. Gardiner was presented a certificate of award by the American Angus Association for this contribution to the Angus business, according to Glen Bratcher, secretary of the national beef registry organization.
These special certificates of award are presented only to registered or commercial Angus breeders who breed a champion Angus steer at a county fair, district show, state fair, or major livestock show. The person’s name must be furnished to the American Angus Association by the show management as the breeder of the steer to be eligible for the award. The certificate reads, "In recognition of meritorious service to the livestock industry by being the breeder of the champion Angus steer..."
Benefit Supper Saturday At Forest Grove School
Ham and chicken will be featured on the menu at the benefit supper which will be served Saturday night, March 1 hat the Forest Grove School by the merpbers of Forest Grove Baptist Church. Supper will be served from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m and will be home cooked including pies. Proceeds will be applied to the church parsonage fund.
