half of John Gardner, Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare, also sent a certificate which was framed and will be put in the teachers lounge. The guest speaker for the program was Roy V. Sonner, Director of Field Services and Placement at Madison College, Harrisonburg, whose subject too, was appreciation of teachers. He emphasized that it was not always the teacher who was best liked that is appreciated most. Mr. Sonner is a former teacher and school principal and was assistant to the president of Madison College before tak ing his present position. He was educated at Lynchburg College and the University of Virginia. A luncheon was served in the Home Ec Department by the S.C.A. in honor of the teachers and coffee, cookies and doughnuts were served in the lounge most of the day. Large decorative signs proclaiming teacher appreciation day were hung in the halls, the gym and lounge of the school brilliantly delivering the message of the student appreciation.
