At Beauty Pageant

Miss Bonnie North of Huntly who was chosen 'Miss Rappahannock" in the Jaycee sponsored Beauty Pageant fast year, will be present for the contest this year which is scheduled for Friday, April 19 at the local high school. She will preside during the coronation ceremony, presenting the tiara to the lovely lady who gains the 68 title. Entries for the contest are coming in well, but those who wish to enter any of the four classes and have not registered may do so by contacting the pageant chairman, Jim Willis at Sperryville, 987-8177 or any Jaycee member. The four divisions are 4 through 7 years of age;8 through 12;13 through 16 and 17 through 20. In the first three age groups contestants will wear street clothes, but in the older group evening gowns will be required.

Business firms or individuals may sponsor one or more candidates and the entry fee is $2 for each. If a contestant wishes to enter but does not have a sponsor, she may do so and a sponsor will be provided. Parents of preschool age girls are asked to contact the chair man or a Jaycee to enter their child. First, second and third prizes are given in each division and “Miss Rappahannock* is awarded a $50 cash prize and in addition will receive a scholarship if she enrolls in a school to further her education.
