The function of the Authority will be to make studies of water resorces for impoundment in order to protect water rights and to deal with situations concerning water and sewage such as the current problem on the Thornton River in Sperryville. The proposed use tax ordinance was discussed and a resolution was adopted for it. The use tax concerns the 1% local option sales tax which Rappahannock already has in effect. The use tax insures the state and county collecting sales tax on purchases made from other states by local con sumers. The Water Authority Resolu tion is published elsewhere in this issue of the Rappahannock News and a public hearing is scheduled for the May meeting of the Supervisors on May 3rd.
