The recent passage of new legisla-r tion by Congress provided for the liberalized benefits for these pensioners. In establishing proof of eligibility for the aid and attendance benefit, a statement is required from the Nursing Home or from a private physician saying why the care is required and what kind is being provided. The Veterans Ad ministration will not presume the need for the benefit for periods of temporary incapacity or where the reason for residence in a Nursing Home is other than mental or physical care.
