Errors Plague Quint
In Four Contests
The Rappahannock High Panthers were plagued by errors and a lack of adequate pitching as they dropped four contests.
Thursday the Panthers were topped by the Warren County! Wildcats 6-2, Mike Welch went the distance for the Panthers! and was tagged with the loss. A rash of miscues Saturday night helped a strong Madison Mountaineer team to a 32-0 win over Rappahannock. Russ Thompkins and Hen Utz combined to hold the Panthers hitless. The game was called after five innings. Floyd Grigsby turned in a creditable performance in his pitching debut Monday striking out eight in an 8-2 loss to William Monroe. Tuesday the Panthers were beaten before a home crowd by Montivedio 12-6. All six Rappahannock runs came in the fourth inning, capped by a two run double bv James Grigsby. Wayne Deal started, but gave way to Stewart Henry in the sixth. Friday the Panthers play a t 7:30 night game at Luray and are home to Broad way on Tuesday.
