No Injuries In
Three Minor Crashes
No injuries were reported in three minor traffic crashes which have occurred since last Thursday in Rappahannock.
A vehicle struck a deer on Route 211 three miles west of Sperryville on April 11. James Walter Cooper of Alexandria was operating a 65 Mercury sedan when he struck the animal. Damage to the car was estimated at $75, according to Trooper W.A. Buntin who investigated. On Sunday the 14th at the west limits of Sperryville on Route 211 a 61 Volkswagen and a 67 Chevrolet became involved in a crash. Fred Wise of Springfield operating the Volkswagen owned by William Wise, also of Springfield, made a left turn into a service station and was struck by John William Haverfield of Silver Spring, Md. in the Chevrolet who was attempting to pass. Wise was charged for failing to give a signal to turn. Damage to the VW was set at $250 and to the Chevrolet at $300. Trooper Buntin also investigated this crash.
Trooper J. B. Willis investigated a single-vehicle crash which occurred late Friday night at the east end of tht dual laning on Route 211. Freddie Jackson of Spe rryville operating a 61 Chevrolet ran qff the left of the road and down an embankment. The car was declared a total loss and Jackson was charged with reckless driving.
