American travelers are getting taller every year. Offi-: cial U. S. government statls- i tics prove it. And as Bob Harnsberger, Vice President of Luray Caverns, can attest today’s tourist is likely to oe half a head taller than grand-dad.. or even dad... ever was.

For nearly a century, Luray's underground w o n d e r s have been a popular tourist attraction in Virginia’s famed Shenandoah Valley. Generations of visitors have viewed the gleaming stalactites and stalagmites with ample head room But if present growth patterns continue, “the next generation of American travelers appears likely to be a race of giants," Harnsberger says.

"Looking to the future” Luray Caverns, at great expense is lowering numerous underground walkways to allow these future visitors the necessary head room.
