The Farm Bureau Marketing Association listed a price of $5.00 for preferred grade of U. S. No. 1 at a size of 2'/i inches and up.
U. S. No. 1 at 2*4 to 2xh inches were listed at $3.25. The U. S. No. 2, 2'4 inches and up were listed at $2.50. Apple juice price was recommended at $2.50 and apple cider was $1.75.
Recommended factors as seen by the growers include a crop similar in size to last year, a somewhat shorter supply of varieties favored for processing, good fruit size and condition, and a strong economy with resultant high consumer purchasing power. The prices were recommended upon the advice of Farm Bureau ^ffiliated Marketing Associations in an eight state area from North Carolina to Michigan. Virginia growers have scheduled a meeting in Winchester, September 5 at 8 p m. at the Winchester Apple Growers south plant to discuss the harvest of the 1968 crop.
