Trinity Episcopal Church, Washington, Virginia, was the scene on Saturday, August 24, 1968 of the marriage of Miss Dorothy Taylor Davis to Reverdy Hamlin Jones III. Miss Davis is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Davis, jr. of Washington and Mr.° Jones is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Jones, jr. of Fairmont, West Virginia.
The Reverend Charles F. Glaenzer performed the ceremony at eight o’clock in the evening before an altar setting of clematis, gladioli, asters, greens and lighted tapers. Mrs. Paul Nichols of Flint Hill, organist, presented a program of nuptial music including Trumpet Voluntary by Purcell and the Bridal Chorus by Wagner for. the processional and. PsalnaXVJUi by Marcello for the recessional.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. Her floor-length gown was a sheath of white delustered silk satin with an overdress of embroidered silk organza ornamented with seed pearls. It was designed with a high round neckline and ng sleeves, both edged with at d of white satin. A matching band of satin complemented the hemline. Her voluminous veil of silk illusion fell from a crown of organza and formed a chapel train. She carried her paternal grandmother’s white prayer book topped with orchids.
Mrs. Park P. Dickerson of Johnson, Vermont was matron of honor for her sister. Her long gown was of the same design as that of the bride; a rose satin sheath and organza overdress. Her headpiece was of matching rose tulle falling to the floor from a satin bow. She carried a hurricane! lamp with lighted candle; decorated with asters, clematis and ribbon.
