Warning of traffic dangers to be expected during Labor Day weekend, John T. Hanna, Director of the Virginia Highway Safety Division, said that drinking, speeding and exhaustion, which dominate all holiday killers, were actively present during the same holiday last year.
In the 16 fatal crashes which killed 21 people last year, a driver was exceeding the speed limit in eight and a safe speed under adverse conditions in one. In two the speeds were in excess of IOC mph.
