With the days getting shorter and the nights being chilly, no one needs a calendar to realize that summer is starting to slip cooly into fall. Add to this a newly cut com field and the sight and sound of the whistling wings of a few mourning doves trading back and forth, and no one need tell the dove hunter it is time to get his hands on as much ammunition as he can find. This Saturday, September 7 at 12 noon, the 1968 dove season will be underway. Starting time this year will be 12 noon local time, which means daylight saving time in our case. Shooting must stop at official sunset. Sunset this Saturday will be 7:30 D.m.
