The dove hunting pamphlets with the sunset table used last year are not yet available. However, the federal regulations governing dove hunting and including Virginia’s seasons are available at the Clerk’s office in Washington. Again Virginia will have a split season. Opening this Saturday and closing on Saturday, November 2. It will then be closed until December 16 at which time it will open and remain open until December 28.
As last year the daily limit will be 12 doves a day. Twelve is a right good pile of birds and no one should have any trouble laying his gun down after getting^
his limit then sitting backj watching his buddies knock down| a few —or miss a few. ;
Madison County squirrel season j opened this past Monday with a real boom, or more correctly,! with a series of booms. Since the season’s first day was a holiday, an unusually large number of hunters turned out. An apparent strong comeback by the squirrels in the area accounted for fair to good success by most hunters. Anyone who likes early season squirrel hunting can slip down to Madison or Greene Counties through Saturday,' September 14. Rappahannock’s early season will open October 1.
