County Garden Club

To Give Scholarship

The Rappahannock County Garden Club has announced the establishment of The Rappahannock County Garden Club’s Francis J. Leonard Memorial Scholarship.

Designed to provide financial assistance to deserving students in Rappahannock County, the scholarship was made possible by a substantial gift from Mrs. Francis J. Leonard, in memory of her late husband, and by the efforts of the Club through their Christmas Bazaar and Greens Sale.

The fund will be administered by a special scholarship board, set up by the Club Executive committee.

Applications for the scholarship, which will provide financial assistance for two students each year, after the first year, will be available from Mr. C. E. Johnson, Jr., Sperry ville. Chairman of the Scholarship Board.

To be eligible, a student must be a resident of Rappahannock County, must have 12 years of schooling, or be in his or her 12th year. The funds may be used to defray either tuition or living expenses in connection with any liberal arts, professional, or vocational training course.

Applications must be submitted by April 1 of any year to Mr. C. E. Johnson, Jr., Sperry ville, Virginia
