Local G.I. Competes

In Shooting Matches

Sgt. John Clark is in Tehran, Iran at present competing in the CENTO (Central European Nations Treaty Organization) shooting matches. The team left for Tehran August 23 and will return to Germany September 10.

This rifle team represents the United States. There will be teams from England, Iran and other central European nations. The competition will include firing of the 45 cal. pistol, M-14 rifle and M-60 light machine gun.

John returned to Germany recently after spending 30 days on his father’s farm near Sperryville. He was skeptical about making the team because of losing 30 days practice. His friends were happy to learn that he was selected once again to represent the United States.

Rappahannock is proud of one of her native sons who is serving our nation in such an outstanding manner.
