Mr. Norton also reported the satisfactory closing of transactions on the sale of the Washington and Amissville Graded Schools which were sold recently. They brought $4,600 and $6,000 respectively.

Miss Judy Burtner of Augusta County was introduced to the group as an applicant for position of Extension Agent, Home Economics, here. She received approval and will begin work in January. She is presently an assistant agent in Brunswick County.

Sam Dunn, Highway Safety Co-Ordinator for the Virginia Safety Division, explained the workings of a loo-*1 safety commission. A comi - was formed with the U'bowing members: Supervisor Norman Wilbur, Slate Mills; R. E. Wood, Sperryville; Prank Huff, Flint Hill, active in rescue squad activities; Deputy Sheriff John Walker Jenkins and local driver education director.

Insurance needs on county buildings and contents were discussed and Supervisor L. H. Luttrell was appointed to investigate adequate coverage costs and availability. Trash trouble which has been manifested of recent weeks was discussed. The refuse company servicing the county has had several break downs with equipment resulting in extreme over accumulation. The company is paid only for the trips made and order is expected to be restored with regular pick ups.

A member of the Bartenstein surveying association was present to show maps which the county should have in connection with the boundary survey. Upon scrutinizing the original contract with this company, it was believed that these maps were a pSxi of the contract already paid for. This was tabled until another meeting.

Bids will be taken on repair and painting work to be done on the county buildings in the spring.

A report on public assistance requests was given by Mrs. Elizabeth Buntin, Welfare Superintendent, and the board approved payment at the discretion of Mrs. Buntin as far as available funds will go.
