Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Wines and family of the Strashing Road visited Mr. and Mrs. Hubie Gilkey and family Thursday night.
Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Mahoney moved last week into an apartment on Main St. in Front Royal.
Mr. and Mrs. “Danny” Hickerson and baby moved several weeks ago into their new home here. They had been living with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hickerson, Sr. Mrs. Bertha North spent Saturday night with her daughter Mrs. Alfred Sealock and family. Mrs. Lonnie Williams spent last Thursday in Warrenton with her Aunt Mrs. Vessie Settle and later firearm in the Park and had damaged a locked Park gate. They were fined a total of $560 plus $104 to repair the gate. A few of those apprehended have been in the Park because they did not check their map or read the State hunting law booklet. The entire Park boundary is well marked with red blazes and signs. Several of those cited have been intentional violators who have full knowledge of where they were and that they were violating Park regulations. Unfortunately these people show not only a disregard for the law, but also for the rights and property of others. Gates that are broken or damaged must be repaired at the taxpayers’ expense. Park wildlife is often left dead or dying along park roads. It would appear many of those using the Park as a hunting area do not realize the possible consequences. Federal law provides that not only may the violater suffer fine and/or jail sentence, but he may also have any guns and automobile used in the violation confiscated.
On several occasions in the past, persons found guilty of bunting in Shenandoah National Park have lost their guns and their cars.
