Potentially dangerous toys and Christmas tree hazards will cause several hundred American children to suffer needless eye injuries during the coming holiday season, reports the Virginia Society for the Prevention of Blindness. More than 18% of the serious injuries to children’s eyes are caused by missile-type toys such as pellet guns, dart guns, bean shooters and many toys with rubber bands such as sling shots Choose toys carefully! Seemingly harmless toys with protruding points, sharp edges, flammable 01 plastic materials that shatter car turn a holiday into a day ol honor. The Society urges Santa’i Helpers to be aware of th< dangers of B-B guns. If a B-B gui is on a child’s list of “wants”, lx sure:
(1) Hie child is mature enougl for such responsibility (or paren is willing to assume probabl; expense and possible heartachi for him).
(2) The child is taught th proper and safe procedure relating to the gun.
