Federal funds are involved in i number of arterial constructioi projects of through routes, ant no new federal aid work has beei put up for bids since a directivi cut off all federal aid to highway in early September.
The new openings affect traffii in the State from one end to th< other.
On the Eastern Shore, the fina 10 miles of dividing on Arteria US 13 between the Chesapeaki Bay Bridge-Tunnel and Marylant were opened on October 30 although work will be going oi there until early next year oi roadsides. In Wise County, the final twc projects in dividing Arterial U£ 23 are scheduled for opening soon to complete a new highway from south of Wise to north oi Pound. Roadside work on many of the new road segments will be going on in places during the winter anc there will be temporary barricades on shoulders when guard rail and shoulder work an yet to be completed. The new roads are opened tc traffic as soon as possible aftei pavement is completed for tht safety and convenience ol travelers.
