Winter crept in Saturday night in the form of a three to six inch snowfall in the county and was followed by gale winds Sunday night and Monday. To prove both, the photo above shows the chimney at the home of Mrs. Mary Updike in Washington which blew over Monday morning. When the chimney fell, it punched a hole in the side of the house and smashed in the roof and ceiling of the one story part of the house. Harry Russell Smoot and J. W. Clatterbuck dismantle the rest of the chimney so it can be rebuilt. Harvey came to our house - Below: Amissville seemed to get most of the snow and Sunday afternoon the Latham family displayed artistic prowess in the snow bunny built in the yard. Susan, on the stepladder, puts the finishing touches on the ears as Shannon Streagle finds a paw a good place to rest. Nancy Latham Hoadley offered the rabbit-carrots and David Hoadley awaits his turn for a bit of plastic surgery to the fine cool animal.
