Updike Again Wins

At Swine Show

COURTLAND-The 10th annual Market Hog Show and Sale, held recently here in Courtland, drew the largest crowd wer to attend one of these went*. Estimated attendance was idOO, said John Henry Carter, Extension swine specialist and coordinator for the event.

Randall S. Updike of Washington was a repeat winner of the sweepstakes contest in which points are awarded for placings in the various classes.

Fred Crittenden of Hardyville had the grand champion single, a 190 pound Duroc. Reserve champion single was a middleweight Hampshire weighing 200 pounds and shown by Charles E. Cannon of Spotsylvania.

The grand champion pen of three was shown by Fred Crittenden and weighed a total of 570 pounds. Randall Updike of Washington had the reserve champion pen of three; heavyweights totaling 635 Dounds.

Winner in the hoof carcass contest was Carl Grove of Waynesboro. Deerpath Farms, Franklin, placed second; and Randall Updike of Washington was in third place.
